I have a friend that lives in Newman, and I've been there a few times. It's been a while, but I'm sure its grown. It's not a bad area at all and if near family its a decent choice. I'm bias since I lived in east Cobb and that general area for 16 years. Depending on where you plan on finding work will also determine what might be best as far as location. Getting in and out of downtown Atlanta from anywhere everyday will make you suicidal. If your not wanting to work downtown, areas like north of Atlanta are nice since many towns are close to each other and provide tons of options. I'm aware of the sports programs of Atlanta area schools, but the education side of it might not be up to standards. I'd be very careful of being too close to Atlanta due to safety. Newnan is about an hour from where I lived with low traffic. Best bet is to go spend some time in Atlanta and visit the different areas.
